Iraq is filled with varying histories, many of which, are Judeo-Christian bible histories.  Most people are surprised to learn this, generally associating Iraq with ties to a Muslim history only.  Map Of Iraq is proud to introduce the lesser-known elements of Iraq's history, the majority of which Christians are very familiar with, without even knowing it.

"And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads. The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold; And the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone. And the name of the second river is Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia. And the name of the third river is Hiddekel [Tigris]: that is it which goeth toward the east of Assyria. And the fourth river is Euphrates" (Genesis 2:10-14).

Most people view these rivers and this area in Iraq as the Garden Of Eden.

Here's a UN Press Release Urging Action To Save The Area

Jonah & The Whale

Present day Mosul is ancient Nineveh.  Nineveh is where Jonah was sent by God to spread His word to the fierce inhabitants who were worshiping numerous gods at this time. (Jonah got cold feet and sailed off in the OPPOSITE direction from Nineveh, got engulfed by a huge storm) To save the ship Jonah goes overboard and is swallowed by a great fish where he stayed in its belly for three days, as it swam back TOWARD Nineveh.  The Fish spits Jonah out and he ends up introducing the One True God to the pagans in Nineveh, as God had originally commanded him to do.

Father Abraham

Ancient Ur is where Abraham came from (Abraham is the founder of the race
known as the Jewish People)  Abraham and his descendants ultimately received
a Land Covenant from God for the Holy Land that is now Israel.
